BIOKOVO

ImagesBiokovo is second-highest mountain in Croatia, located along the Dalmatian coast of Adriatic, between the rivers of Cetina and Neretva. Its highest peak is Sveti Jure (Saint George), at 1762 metres. The 196 km² of its area is protected as a nature park. It is sometimes referenced to as Bijakova, especially among inhabitants of the eastern side of the mountain. When the weather is very clear, from the top of Biokovo it is possible to see Monte Gargano in Italy, which is 252 km away.

MEDUGORJE [BIH]

ImagesJoin us in the visit to one of the most holy places in the world. It is believed that in this little village the Virgin Mary appeared in front of a group of children in 1981. The drive to Medugorje will take us along the Adriatic coast and through the lovely Neretva valley. Upon arrival you will have the opportunity to visit the Apparition Hill and attend the mass in the local church. Return to Split the late afternoon hours.

DUBROVNIK

ImagesDubrovnik is a historic city on the Adriatic Sea coast in the extreme south of Croatia, positioned at the terminal end of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik. It is one of the most prominent tourist resorts, a seaport and the center of the Dubrovnik Neretva county. Its population was 43,770 in 2001 and 49,728 in 1991. In 2001 the absolute majority of its citizens declared themselves as Croats with 88.39 percent(2001 census). Dubrovnik is nicknamed ''Pearl of the Adriatic''. The prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages, as the Republic of Ragusa, it became the only eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Ragusa was one of the centers of the development of the Croatian language and literature, home to many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars.

LIGHTHOUSE

ImagesSt. Peter lighthouse was built in 1884 on the peninsula of the same name that is placed at the entrance to the town of Makarska, in the vicinity of one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic. The lighthouse is a 20 minute walk from the center of Makarska and is 85 km from Split Airport. An asphalt road leads to the lighthouse.

RAFTING

ImagesAfter 25 km from Split and Makarska, the town Omiš, a picturesque of the pirates' origin could be reached. Set at the source of the river Cetina and under slopes of the mountains Mosor and Biokovo, it offers many different activities in the nature starting from walking, cycling, canoeing, free climbing, paragliding, diving, sailing and rafting. You will be greeted at the restaurant in Radmanove Mlinice (6 kilometres from Omiš, along the left coast of the river Cetina), where transport will be organised to the starting position. Trip will end in Radmanove Mlinice after 3-4 hours of drifting through the canyon of one of the most beautiful Croatian rivers. During the trip one can admire wealthy flora and fauna and explore the phenomena of the Dalmatian karst. Short T-shirts, sandals or sport's shoes is everything you need. The organizer provides the rest of the equipment. Take the towel, dry clothes and shoes you will put on after the trip.

KRKA FALLS

ImagesThe National Park of Krka is one of the natural wonders of Croatia, 15 minutes south of Sibenik in the direction of Kin, and should not be missed. It covers an area of 111 km². In the south of the park is the river Krka with a series of spectacular cascading waterfalls. After follows the gorges of Me•u Gredama with its long lake and celebrated isle of Visovac, home to a 15th century monastery (Boat trips can be taken to the island). To the south of the lake are the Skradinski Buk waterfalls, the most spectacular in the park.

KORCULA

ImagesKorcula is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic Sea. Marco Polo, the famous world-traveller and writer, as well as a Venetian merchant, is reputed to have been born in Korcula. In the old town of Korcula his supposed house of birth is located. Besides Marco Polo; Korcula has a long art and cultural tradition, including museums, galleries and festivals. The sword dance Moreska, is world famous folk drama dance, which used to be played all over Mediterranean, it is now only performed in Korcula. Korcula has a lot to offer to a visitor to see and learn - its art and history, its culture, traditional crafts and skills of stone masonry and shipbuilding, sword dances, music, writings as well as its most famous inhabitant – Marco Polo and his heritage, besides all the natural beauties, views and beaches. After sightseeing there will be time for lunch or even swimming.

SPLIT

ImagesSplit is the largest and most important city in Dalmatia, the administrative centre of Croatia's Split-Dalmatia County and is the second largest city in Croatia. It is situated on a small peninsula on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea. Croatian Our Lady of the Lourdes shrine was founded in 1908 by the bishop Dr. Juraj Caric. The natural cave and the entire landscape of small hills, vegetation and a stream is reminiscent of the Lourdes, where in 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary revealed herself to Bernardici Soubirous 18 times. Chapel with a sacristy, an altar, confession rooms, stations of the Cross, a retreat centre and procession paths were erected at the shrine. Due to its natural splendour and serenity, this shrine is well visited throughout the year and especially during the pilgrimage days: 11.02, 25.03, 15.08, and 8.09.

MOSTAR [BIH]

ImagesThis tour will take us along the Adriatic coast, through the green Neretva valley towards the charming town of Mostar . Mostar, with it's narrow cobbled streets is a mixture of East and West. It is a town of exceptional beauty and a rich history. Our walking tour will take us to the cultural and historical highlights such as the old Bazaar, the Turkish House as well as to one of the many old Mosques. After the guided tour there will be free time for lunch, strolling around and browsing among the many old crafts shops.

VEPRIC

LUBUSKI [BIH]

ImagesLjubuski is a town and municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the western part of Herzegovina. In the 1991 census, the municipality of Ljubuski had a population of 28,340, of which 26,127 were Croats (92.1%), 1,592 Bosniaks (5.6%), 227 Yugoslavs (0.8%), 65 Serbs (0.2%), and 329 others (1.1%). The town of Ljubuski had 7,407 residents: 75% Croats, 20% Bosniaks, 3% Yugoslavs, 1% Serbs and 1% others. The town was first time mentioned in 1444. The name Ljubuski originates from an ancient Slavic name Libusa who used to be the first wife of the then ruler of Herzegovina Herzeg Stjepan.
